Fellas, friends and aviators! By a couple of requests, I have created a special edit version of the default gateway scenery. But this comes with some editorial claims. 1. Not all sceneries are fully done designs yet. That will take weeks to accomplish, and in the meantime I'm sure there comes along another release´s on gateway for that AIP. 2. The edits I have made are purely for the purpose of saving textures and VRAM, increasing FPS and XP12 stability. That means some airport-features will be removed on some airports. For instance at very large airports I might be forced to remove taxi routings and ground vehicle routing, and with that also ground vehicles. For medium and small airports this is not necessary. All my airport edits are validated in the latest WorldEditor, WED. 3. For as long as possible I try to avoid editing design. But sometimes it's absolute. Especially at very large airports. 4. This is my personal edit, and I ask you to respect that. I'm NOT in the position to respond to criticism or any other comments on my work, only those I post here. This is because the original work of the airport creator still belongs to Laminar Research gateway.x-plane.com. Please respect that. However, I'm very thankful for feedback of any kind. 5. I have received personal approval from Austin at LR to share these default airports with you. Exactly for the reasons described above. All else relations or questions are/should be with gateway.x-plane.com 6. But my friends! If you like the scenery edits I do, then please enjoy them! If you feel like giving coffee-money or similar, then please post them to my pay-pal account paypal.me/vSkyChek . Then comes the questions of why I do this: 1. Development of mesh and classification of airportareas makes future scenery updates, and also the fact that airportboundarys are ONLY used to cut the default scenery at gateway.x-plane.com - there is no need for airportboundarys for the end user. 2. On every edit I do I help out a lot of people struggling with FPS. I remove a humongous lot of excessive nodes and extra plates put in default scenery. This way I save textures and VRAM. That increases not only FPS, but also increases the stability of X-plane. 3. Remember that most default sceneries are historically made, and made for XP11 or even older. I convert these to XP12 art assets. My edits will not be updated by gateway simply because they are sometimes not backwards compatible. Instead they need new editing and in most cases new design. 4. My edits are not slightly modified. I spend hours making scenery work better and more efficiently in XP. All my edits give 50+ FPS on a 3080-card and moderate graphic settings. Please enjoy!
