A salute to a bygone era. A retro livery for the 737-700U. Australian National Airways (ANA) was one of the world's pioneer airline companies that started out originally as a Tasmanian based airline called Holyman Airways in 1932. Unfortunately, Wikipedia doesn't do the history of this airline justice and if you want to find out more, see if you can get a hold of the book The Forgotten Giant of Australian Aviation: Australian National Airways by Peter Yule. Australian National Airways (ANA) grew to be the biggest airline in the world at one time and some ANA pilots were seconded to little known start-up airline, Cathay Pacific. ANA met it's demise at the hands of successive Australian governments in the 50s with the aim of destroying its monopoly and promoting the government owned airline Trans-Australia Airlines (TAA). The "Goliath" of the Australian airline scene eventually was bought out by a tiny three plane air transport company owned by Reg Ansett. The rest as they say is history. This all-metal paint-scheme is loosely based on the Bristol Freighter used by the airline.
