  1. Which version of Ortho4XP are you using? IIRC 1.20 implemented some kind of fallback mechanism where it would default to Bing if the primary source download failed. Did you check the output messages?
  2. Why should adding them manually be a problem? Since the tiles are grouped in regions/states there are not going to be that many folders... Besides, XP will automatically add any newly found scenery folders to the top of the .ini therefore the only thing you need to do is moving them near the bottom once they've been added using a text editor. Or you can use a third party tool like xOrganizer to manage your custom scenery.
  3. You're probably lacking a "tmp" folder in your Ortho4XP home. Besides, I highly recommend using Ortho4XP 1.30 - many bugs have been fixed.
