Mil Mi-2 Freeware Helicopter 1.0.8 VR Mod

Out of the VR Lab: Mil Mi-2 from Mins - Updated to 1.0.8 by Ekre

This update tweaks nearly everything to work better in VR.   I worked very hard to make things just act and "feel" as right as they can.  

 

Things that have been tweaked to work in VR are:

-Added mesh for barometer/altimeter knob (previously not usable in VR)
-Added mesh for click-spot at the tip of the barometer/altimeter knob, to reset to 29.92 in hg (previously not usable in VR)
-Added meshes for com1 knobs, Mhz and khz (previously not usable in VR)
-Added mesh toward base of collective handle for throttle (now you can roll throttle on and off with a twist of the wrist, as you really would...no more F1/F2 )
-Added mesh for collective, tuned the dataref range for 0.1 to 12.5 (this is stable and does well.)
-Flipped normals and resized meshes for yoke stick and collective, to give nice green outline around texture, but not cover the texture.
-Changed 3 way switches from drag_axis to axis_switch_up_down for best VR usability
-Added Teleport Hotpots to all seats
-Tuned all knobs and 3 way switches for speed in the VRconfig

Things that still don't work:

The ADF system is a 2d instrument so it doesn't work well in VR, as well as the heading/nav instrument system. 

 

Installation Instructions:

I recommend making a backup copy of your X-plane 11/Aircraft/mi2 folder.  Just rename it to something like mi2 Old, so you can easily just revert back if you need to.

Step 1. Unzip the file and you'll find 4 files - 2 new cockpit.obj files and 2 new vrconfig files.  Add all the files to your Aircraft's root folder, overwrite.

Step 2.  Enjoy!

 

Disclaimer: This is not an officially supported update by the developer, so don't expect support from him on it. If you need help you can always ask me or just revert to your backed up folders. If you lose the old files and just want to reset everything just reinstall the aircraft.
