Aeroworx Douglas C-47

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I've been a member since finding the Beaver VR mod through the X-Plane.org forums.
Now I've found this beautiful freeware Aeroworx Douglas C-47 (As I understand it a permitted port/rework of an older FSX version).
Everything works except for the yoke, so I figured I'd get on it myself after the wonderful SimVRLabs tutorial videos.
I'v managed to rather quickly get the yoke working, however even though I've disabled drawing on both the wheel and the stick polys, the sticks get drawn.

Not only that, the yoke is far outside the aircraft. I assume it has something to do with the AC3D origin reference. They are placed roughly where they are imported in AC3D world space from the obj they were in originally. I tried moving them to the correct spot, but to no avail. No matter where they are in AC3D, they end up outside. They are untextured, but hide with the "hide yoke".
Any help is appreciated.

Edit: Starting up VR seemed to remedy the rendering issue. Also found I seemed to have had the wrong parts selected for relocating the yoke assemblies.

Ok, so I have the yoke working, I had to relocate it to the cockpit.obj local reference, as the object cockpit which contained the yokes was quite a bit off.
I tried using the lever geometry as control objects for the levers but that was too complex and crashed XPlane. Back to square one.
Are there any ways to find out the correct values for the vrconfig Yoke_manip_rotate values?
Currently I'm using my beavers values and that creates an offset, but how to figure out the correct values?
The prop, throttle and mixture levers do not use a translation axis but rather rotate along the length of my controllers, which is not optimal, but all my attemps to change the rotation axis have failed (cause I barely know what I'm doing..).

Ok here's my first shot. The objs were quite over the place, so lining them up properly is quite a challenge. Critique is welcome.

This is pretty much as far as I can take it. I dont own a copy of AC3D and my trial has expired, so not much I can do about it. All levers and buttons work as in the original cockpit, have fun.

Link to the original freeware plane.

Install both files in the Planes root folder.
