  1. Hello.

Currently xEnviro doesn't feature all weather, for instance, storms do not exist in version 1.10, 1.11 and 1.12.

If I find the worst possible storm in real life, and go to the location in Xplane, I will find grey clouds and heavy rain. No tall and big storm clouds, no heavy and dangerous turbulences, no lightning and no thunder.

In my opinion storms are very important in a weather engine, the kind of storms that make you scared to pass through the clouds, the kind of storms that make you fight the airplane to stay airborne. The kind of storm full of thunder and lightning, that make you want to land as soon as possible.

Are they on the roadmap, and if yes, can we expect to have real storms in version 1.13?

    Thank you

Just wait and see, I am sure they will implement it soon! I think captain kitten is on vacation for a few weeks~

I'm not annoyed by the fact that storms aren't in 1.10, things happen, I understand

I'm annoyed by the fact that they weren't honest about it, and avoided answers on the subject, that's pretty shady.

  3. I've addressed developers directly on this issue on another post, and this post is clearly visible on the front page and has been for the past 2 weeks.

While the developers  respond to other posts, some older, they won't respond on this. It seems deliberate to me.

I think it's really a shame, I've been actively following development, but the fact that we cannot get a simple answer for a product that we bought for $70 is really disappointing.

My understanding now is that real storms (with heavy winds and thunder) aren't in 1.10, otherwise the developpers would have answered this question for a while now.

The devs are avoiding this question, because they do not wish to admit this, but I wonder, did you really think people wouldn't notice that storms are missing? and that all we have is big rain clouds.

Seeing how storms behave is literally the first thing most of us do when we try a new weather plugin, and you didn't expect anyone to notice?

I'm not even disappointed by 1.10 overall, even without storms it's a pretty great product for me, but I find this behaviour really shady, I didn't expect this from the X-Enviro team, and I think it's a shame that you would avoid questions in order not to tell the truth.

70 bucks for the only REAL weather ENGINE in Xplane11, with plenty of innovative, brilliant, immersive features; absolutely worth the money; makes Xplane11 a much better simulation. Once VR is out in the future, hopefully you will also be then able to experience this fantastic weather engine. Greetings

Hey, as much as I love XEnviro 1.10, it is clearly not the "only REAL weather engine", in fact, in terms of pure weather accuracy Active Sky XP is way better than XEnviro, what XEnviro needs now is the rendition of storms, and also a better weather engine to run the great visuals it provides.

an ASXP weather engine and XEnviro visuals would be god like

  5. I tried to chase storm several time, the worst I can find is heavy rain.

But no thunder, no tall dark clouds, no very heavy winds and turbulences.

Is it in 1.10 or is it going to be added later?

PS: the thunderstorm option is active in my settings

I am looking into another live stream. But it's hard to find time for it. With the expo coming up and Threshold being a media partner there we have our hands full. In addition we are whipping up some new concepts to keep Threshold floating economically. Sadly the people who have been supporting us through subscriptions, donations and store purchases stand as a surprisingly low percentage compared to the vast influx of new members and readership. Our statistics on page views and usage of the forum is staggering. With that costs go up so Thresholds survival is of high priority right now.

But, If I do get the time for a stream I will. One more video is in the pipeline though. Performance will not be a part of it. Performance will be mentioned when we see that the rest of our tweaks don't affect it all too much and we can say that this is how performance will be.

It is still better than 1.09

I'm sorry to hear that about Threshold, I'll be sure to check your store next time I make an XP purchase.

And I think when XEnviro 1.10 releases, a lot of people will buy it! 😉

I do have a question though, I know you don't want to talk about FPS performance, as you said, and I understand,

my question is more about the impact related to CPU/GPU performance, do you have an idea of what the ratio is?

By that I mean : Is Xenviro more GPU taxing or CPU taxing? I don't need any specific numbers, just an estimation if you have one.

I'd imagine volumetric clouds to be way more taxing on GPU performance than on CPU performance, but we never know

I ask this because I've got a pretty good GPU but my CPU is a bit older, it's my main bottleneck right now when running xplane

I know at this stage you can't be sure about anything performance wise, but regarding the current build what is your opinion?

    Thanks for your answer 🙂

I can't tell you how Xenviro will compare with ASXP, but from what I have read and understood, XEnviro has its own integrated weather engine that will create the cloud layers, type and winds. I am pretty sure that you won't be able to use ASXP as the weather generator for the XEnviro clouds. It will probably be a case of deciding which weather engine to use for a particular flight, XEnviro or ASXP. I am sure after release there will be reviews comparing the two  systems. I think one benefit of XEnviro will be that you will turn it on as a plugin from within XP11, and not have to start it as an independent programme outside of XP. If I am wrong on any of this, I will be corrected by those who know! Other and much more important benefits will be the Voluminous clouds, snow settling on the ground and runways when appropriate, and the wonderful cloud formations we have already seen in the images posted from the beta team.

Thanks for your answer, well I just hope 1.10 will not only be about visuals and a good weather engine will come with it, I like volumetric clouds but if it means Xplane default winds and turbulences I think I'll stick with ASXP to be honest

We'll see how it turns out 😉

  8. Amazing work 👏

I've got a quick question though, sorry if it has been asked before, I recently got Active sky XP, and I really like the way it behaves in terms of wind, turbulences etc... I feel like it's a pretty advanced weather injector.

Will it be compatible with Xenviro 1.10 (as in Xenviro visuals and asxp weather simulation) ?

If not, would you say Xenviro's weather engine is more or less advanced than asxp, how does it compare? Will I miss asxp in terms of flight dynamic if I get Xenviro?

    Thanks

  9. Amazing job, this is going to correct Xplane's biggest flaw in my opinion, this is a game changer.

I honestly can't wait for the release, and I understand some of the most impatient ones here,

On the other hand, i'd rather have to wait 6 months than to get a bugged and unusable version now, so take all the time you guys need to bring us 1.10.

I've got a quick question though, you mentionned that you want everyone to enjoy XEnviro, that you'll focus on performance, and that visual quality will be sacrificed so that not only the biggest systems can use the engine, my question is this: does it mean there will be no quality slider whatsoever? or do you still plan to give the most powerful systems out there the option to really push the engine to the edge?

    Thanks
