  1. Out of the VR Lab: X-Trident Bell 412

This fantastic bird gets some much deserved VR touch controller love for version 4.0.  The cyclic and collective are now usable with VR Touch controllers, and some knobs were added and tuned, as well as teleport hotspots added for Pilot and Copilot positions.

Manipulators that have been tweaked to work in VR are:

    -Cyclic stick
    -Collective
    -Nav knobs
    -Com knobs
    -Heading knob
    -OBS knob
    -Horizon knob
    -Brightness knobs
    -GPS knobs
    -Custom Teleport Hotspots Added

    Installation Instructions:

I recommend making a backup copy of your X-plane 11/Aircraft/AB412 folder.  Just rename it to something like AB412 Old, so you can easily just revert back if you need to.

Step 1. Unzip the file and you'll find 2 files in the folder.   Add both the Bell412_vrconfig.txt file and the Bell412_cockpit.obj to your Aircraft's root folder, overwrite.

    Step 2.  Enjoy!

Disclaimer: This is not an officially supported X-Trident update, so don't expect support from them on it. If you need help you can always ask me or just revert to your backed up folders. If you lose the old files and just want to reset everything just reinstall the aircraft.

  2. Hey man, I can help you here or you can email me at simvrlabs@gmail.com.

I don't get paid directly on sales, so if you need a refund just contact sales@x-plane.org .  Otherwise I'd love to help you, sounds like maybe you just messed up the install a bit.  Should be an easy fix.

  3. Everything has been tuned for VR.  She's ready to crop dust in virtual reality.

Thanks to Bruno Reichert for kindly giving me permission to work on her.

To Install:  Unzip.  Drop objects folder and vrconfig file into X-Plane/Aircrafts/EMB200 Ipanema Root folder.  Overwrite.  Enjoy!

I recommend making a backup copy of your Embraer 200 Ipanema folder. Just rename them to something like Ipanema Variant Old, so you can easily just revert back if you need to.

This program allows you to adjust the speed/sensitivity of your aircraft's knobs easily and while still in VR.  It auto-populates the knobs based on whichever aircraft you have loaded, and provides a simple slider for each knob where you can adjust the sensitivity and reload to test.  Tame those pesky knobs and tune them to your liking.  The program also creates a backup of the original vrconfig.txt file so if you screw it all up you can easily just revert back to the old one.

This program will only work with aircraft that already have a vrconfig file.  It does not modify, add, or remove click spots, or build new vrconfigs, it only is a quick, easy way to modify an existing one in an intuitive manner, with no typing, editing, or guessing, all while keeping your headset on.

    Enjoy!

Massive thanks to IanQ, Sparker, and Folko for teaching, pushing, and believing.

Instructions:  Make sure you have an updated version of Flywithlua NG.  Unzip the file, and drop both the file and the folder in the resources/plugins/flywithlua/scripts folder.  You can find the file in the flywithlua/macros menu, and you can also assign it to a keyboard key or joystick button.  Further instructions are in the program itself.

V 1-0-1 update notes:  Added switch degree manipulation as well to keep all manipulators in sync on read/write file.  Code cleanup.  Bug fixes.  UI enhancements.

Out of the VR Lab: AirFoilLabs KA350!

This is a the first SimVRlabs VR mod release for the KA350, compatible with version 1.0.0 of the aircraft.   I worked very hard to make things just act and "feel" as right as they can.  As future AirFoilLabs updates come out, I will try to be timely on modifying the SimVRlabs mod to adjust to any new changes.  In time, I'm sure AFLabs will make her 100% VR compatible, hopefully this mod allows us to enjoy the KA350 fully in VR until then!  It's an amazing aircraft.

    What's Tweaked:

    - Added Yoke control for VR controllers.

    - Added VR Config file with over 80 manipulators, knobs, and switches tuned for speed and functionality

    - Added Teleport hotspots throughout the cockpit and cabin

    - Tweaked pitch trim wheel for better feel and function with VR controllers and/or mouse

    - Fixed FMS numbers 1-3 bug

    Version Information:

V100 - Initial Version of the Mod

V100a - Fixed Surface Deice switch not working with VR controllers.

    Installation Instructions:

    1. For this to work, you MUST disable "Automatic Update Checking" in the AirFoilLabs product manager plugin.  If not, the files will be overwritten each time you run X-Plane.  So open that product manager and click the "..." button at the top, and uncheck the "Enable Automatic Update Checking" box.

    2. Download the SimVRlabs zip file.  Unzip the file and add the two files to your AirFoilLabs/King Air 350 folder.  Overwrite.  Save a copy of these files somewhere else so that when you do update your aircraft to the latest version, you can re-apply the SimVRlabs mod without having to re-download.

    3. Enjoy!

I recommend making a backup copy of your X-plane 11/Aircraft/AirFoilLabs/King Air 350 folder. Just rename them to something like ****** Variant Old, so you can easily just revert back if you need to.

Disclaimer: This is not an officially supported AirFoilLabs update, so don't expect support from them on it. If you need help you can always ask me or just revert to your backed up folders. If you lose the old files and just want to revert back to default, just run the updater.

    Useful KA350 Docs.zip

planecommandaltitudeModKA350.zip Plugin to make the autopilot altimeter gauge sync with PlaneCommand spoken commands.  Add plugins folder to KA350 root folder, overwrite if needed.

SimVRlabsYokeCenterv106.zip Returns your yoke to center when you let go of the yoke with the VR controllers, putting trims back into play for VR controller Yoke Control pilots.  Add plugins folder to aircraft's root folder, overwrite if needed.

  6. All things SimVRlabs for this fun little guy.  Full vrconfig, everything tuned up and manipulators cleaned up for maximum VR realism.

Installation instructions:   Make a copy of your unmodified aircraft into another folder in case you ever need to revert back to the original. Unzip and copy contents to your Aircraft's root folder, overwrite.

You MUST be a member of the SimVRlabs club to download the file, or you will get an error and send me a message saying "Hey Joe, it says the file isn't available."  It is.  You probably ARE a member of the Thresholdx forums and you think that's enough.  It's not, you'll still get an error.  There's a button at the top right that says "Join Club" - that's your ticket to SimVRlabs fun.  🙂

This is not an official mod, so if there are problems with your aircraft while running the mod and it has to do with levers, switches, or knobs - hit me up first.

    Enjoy!!

    vFlyteAir_GrummanTraveler_simVRlabs100.zip

  7. For VR-controller-yoke pilots, this file replaces the "green blobs" of the yokes with a more elegant and transparent slim green outline.

Also the trim switch on the pilot's yoke now works with VR controllers.

Also cleared the green click spot off of the elevator trim wheel, so the textures come through and you get a better sense of how your vr controller is spinning the wheel.

Installation instructions:  copy your aircraft/laminar/172 folder and paste a backup copy somewhere else on your computer.  Unzip the downloaded mod, then paste the 3 files in your aircraft/laminar/172 folder.  Overwrite.  When you update X-Plane it will ask you if you want to "Keep the old file" or replace.  I recommend replacing, then re applying the SimVRlabs mod.

Don't forget to join the club, not just the forums, or you will get a download error (file not available).

  8. This is a script I wrote to take care of an issue that "VR controller yoke pilots" have in X-plane --> When we unlatch from the yoke, it stays in place, eliminating the need to use aircraft trim systems.

This script is as lightweight as you can get, written in X-Plane's default xlua ecosystem for zero performance hit.  No need for any external plugins, just follow the installation instructions.

After you install SimVRlabs YokeCenter script it works like this:

After releasing the yoke with the VR controller, just push and hold your assigned button until the yoke smoothly returns to center.  Oculus secondary "squeeze" trigger works great for this if flying with rift controllers!  The return is a slooow and smooth return, so the idea is to return your yoke to center as best you can by hand, then unlatch from the yoke, then press and hold your "return to center" button and it will smoothly correct the yoke to true center...from there you can trim realistically.  Think of this script as a software version of the spring in your joystick/yoke.

    Enjoy!

Download from the downloads section of the Club.  Don't forget to join or you'll get a download error!

  9. This update tweaks nearly everything to work better in VR.   I worked very hard to make things just act and "feel" as right as they can.

Manipulators that have been tweaked to work in VR are:

    -All knobs
    -Throttle
    -Ignition
    -Trims
    -Parking Brake
-Custom Chocks and Cowl Covers click spots
    -Lighting knobs
-VR Yoke added and tuned for realistic mode
-Hotspots in each seat and ALL levers

    Installation Instructions:

I recommend making a backup copy of your X-plane 11/Aircraft/Cherokee folder.  Just rename it to something like Cherokee Old, so you can easily just revert back if you need to.

Step 1. Unzip the file and you'll find 2 files.   Add them to your Aircraft's root folder, overwrite.

  11. This aircraft was plenty different to work on because of the custom Aspen 1000 system, but I got it working perfectly with some digging through code and some hide/show sledgehammering.  A lot of this aircraft was 2d panel based, so there is a whole lot of custom manipulators going on.

    Highlights include:

    - All GPS, Autopilot, ADF, Transponder, and Aspen 1000 system buttons, knobs, and switches brought in and tuned (over 75 custom manipulators).

    - Static elements (flags/chocks) clickable from outside the aircraft for a walkaround.

    - Hotspots in every seat.

    - Panel Brightness switch made smooth for dim-able adjusting instead of all-on / all-off.

    - All the usual SimVRlabs adjustments and tuning

    Installation Instructions:

Step 1.  Just unzip this and add it into your root A36 folder, overwrite the two files.  You should save a copy of your old folder, just in case you want to revert back to the original.

    Step 2.  Enjoy!!

  12. This is the SimVRlabs mod for the PBY-5A Catalina "Actual 9767" Variant only.  This excellent freeware aircraft can be downloaded here:  https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/38316-consolidated-pby-5a-catalina-9767/

I recommend you grab the PBR mod by Silentdark 666 here:  https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/41004-pby-5a-catalina-pbr-mod/

This SimVRlabs VR mod went beyond the scope of the usual VR work.  I made some actual custom upgrades to the cockpit to allow for excellent VR compatibility:

    - Autopilot made to always show - heading and altitude hold only

    - Autopilot disconnect button (red button to the left of autopilot)

    - Panel png size doubled (2048 x 2048) to allow for new GPS's and future Avitab integration

    - Actual Laminar GNS 530 and GNS 430 brought in and configured for full functionality

    - Added heading bug for autopilot heading mode (turn the autopilot knob)

    - Added Gyro Sync button for directional gyro (click the gyro knob)

    - Remade all the buttons on the transponder

    - X-pad hidden

Then I performed the usual SimVRlabs treatment:

    - Throttles, Props, Hotspots, Knobs, Switches, Yoke, etc...

Things that still don't quite work right:

    - The ignition switch will not "hold" with VR controllers.  I've tried many workarounds, but I believe I'm fighting against some SASL code that's preventing it from happening.  So, for now, when doing the actual ignition start, I'm doing it in 2d with the mouse.  I'll continue to try and track down a solution.

    - Would like to add a "needle" for the aileron trim gauge.  Right now you can't tell when your trim is centered, except for feel.

    -  I still have no idea where the parking brake is for this thing, so for now I've just bound it to one of my VR controller's buttons until I can get one brought in and properly modeled/animated (which I can do if I can get some intel).

This took a very long time to do, many more hours than anticipated.  Each Catalina variant is a massive undertaking to re-work (because each cockpit is so different).  Would like to do the water bomber variant, as well as the modern variant in the future.

    Installation Instructions:

Step 1.  Just unzip this and add it into your root PBY Catalina folder.  You can keep or rename your other "Actual" variant if you would like, so it's easier to distinguish in the X-plane aircraft selection screen.

    Step 2.  Enjoy!!

  14. Hi all, I just wrapped up the SimVRlabs mod for the Mil Mi-2 Freeware helicopter for X-plane. She's now much better in VR, fully flyable with VR controllers only if you'd like. I added a rotatable throttle handle to the bottom half of the collective handle as well, so you can roll on the throttle instead of F1/F2. :) 3-way switches are much easier to deal with, and some of the previously VR unclickable knobs are now good to go (including com1). Click on the CNF button on the transponder to bring up a menu tablet where you can add/remove the WORKING sprinkler irrigation unit. Click on the center of the dash fan to get a Wunderbaum hanging air freshener. Gergely Debreceni has done a wonderful job bringing 1.0.8 to us, and now she's just as enjoyable in VR.

Things that have been tweaked to work in VR are:

-Added mesh for barometer/altimeter knob (previously not usable in VR)
-Added mesh for click-spot at the tip of the barometer/altimeter knob, to reset to 29.92 in hg (previously not usable in VR)
-Added meshes for com1 knobs, Mhz and khz (previously not usable in VR)
-Added mesh toward base of collective handle for throttle (now you can roll throttle on and off with a twist of the wrist, as you really would...no more F1/F2  )
-Added mesh for collective, tuned the dataref range for 0.1 to 12.5 (this is stable and does well.)
-Flipped normals and resized meshes for yoke stick and collective, to give nice green outline around texture, but not cover the texture.
-Changed 3 way switches from drag_axis to axis_switch_up_down for best VR usability
-Added Teleport Hotpots to all seats
-Tuned all knobs and 3 way switches for speed in the VRconfig

    Things that still don't work:

The ADF system is a 2d instrument so it doesn't work well in VR, as well as the heading/nav instrument system.

  17. Out of the VR Lab: Rotate MD-80

Nearly everything that is moveable in this aircraft has been customized and tuned with VR controllers in mind.  10 Hotspots created, and yoke, tiller, and throttles have been brought into the cockpit.  Haptic feedback on the levers brings the VR immersion to an entirely new level.

Highlights of things tweaked to work in VR are:

    -VR Yoke in realistic mode
    -Throttle tuned
-Flaps with every detent added to haptic vibrational feedback
    -Perfectly tuned working tiller
    -All knobs tuned
-All switches tuned with respect to functionality
-Speed Brake, long trims, CG wheels tuned for controllers
-Teleport Hotspots for both side window seats at seat 11, 22, and both front and back cabin doors.
-Perform the fire loop test using both controllers (click and hold A and B simultaneously)
-Rudder and Aileron trims tuned for accurate speed

Things that still don't work correctly:

*The APU start/run switch doesn't spring back to run after switching it down to the start position with VR controllers.  This does NOT affect functionality, it operates as if it is in the run position, and DOES spring back with VR mouse, just not the VR controller.

*The BATT switch toggles on and twists automatically when using the VR controllers, instead of two different movements.

*When using VR controllers in "realistic" yoke mode, the yoke has a hydraulic dampening built into the pitch when you pitch down at a hard angle, so you have to push a little harder when pushing down toward the limits.

    What's new in V101:

The Autopilot toggle switch was bugged and not working, this has been fixed for 101.

    Installation Instructions:

Please read the disclaimer at the bottom of the page.  This update in no way effects flight model or systems, only manipulator interaction with regards to VR, and some VR teleport hotspots added.

I recommend making a backup copy of your X-plane 11/Aircraft/Rotate MD80 folder.  Just rename it to something like Rotate MD80 Old, so you can easily just revert back if you need to.

Step 1. Unzip the file and you'll find 2 files.   Add both the Rotate-MD-80-XP11_vrconfig.txt file and the Rotate-MD-80-XP11_cockpit.obj to your Aircraft's root folder, overwrite.

    Step 2.  Enjoy!

Disclaimer: This is not an officially supported Rotate update, so don't expect support from them on it. If you need help you can always ask me through the support section of the website or just revert to your backed up folders. Now featuring a fully working yoke for VR touch controllers, and at last count, there are now 142 custom hand-tuned manipulators optimized to work with VR touch controllers.  No more axis lines on the throttle and condition levers and the gear handle. I worked very hard to make things just act and "feel" as right as they can.

Manipulators that have been tweaked to work in VR are:

    -GPS Knobs, inner/outer
-Sun Shades, slide on rail and lower/raise
    -All Light Intensity Rheostats
    -Autopilot Altitude Selector Dial
-Com 1 and 2 Function Selector and Frequency knobs, inner and outer
-Nav 1 and 2 Function Selector and Frequency knobs, inner and outer
-ADF 2 and 2 Function Selector and Frequency knobs, inner and outer
-Transponder Function Selector and Frequency knobs
    -CRS 1 dial
    -CRS 2 dial
    -HDG dial
    -OBS Knobs
    -IAS Bug knobs
    -Altimeter baro pressure knobs
    -Overhead DC Selector knob
-Flight Number Digit Wheels have been tuned for functionality
-Parking Brake orientation corrected (was previously reversed, now a push toward the floor pushes the knob down)
-Steering Tiller orientation corrected (was previously reversed, now a push toward the floor pushes the knob down)
    -DCP Select knob tweaked
-Decision Height Knob rotation and push in/out tweaked (was previously reversed)
-VR Yoke (Thank you Jan of Stairport Sceneries for the manipulator to work with, and the countless hours of patience and testing with me!)
-AP Disconnect Button on yoke working
-Custom Autopilot V/S knob that overlays the one that doesn't work in VR with touch controllers

Many (many!) manipulators reworked and hand-tuned for maximum workability, including:

    -Throttle
    -Condition Levers
    -Flaps
    -Gear Handle
    -Friction Locks
    -Knobs
    -Switch Covers
    -Fire Handles
    -Temp Knobs
    -Light Knobs

    Other Immersive VR Tweaks:

Now there's a tiny teleport hotspot above and behind the center console. This hotspot teleports you out of the cockpit and into the cabin just outside the cockpit door facing aft. From there you can make a cup of coffee, or teleport over to a couple places in the cabin. One is in front of the main door, where you can open it and slide the stairs out and lower/raise them. From there you can also operate the cabin lighting switches. You can also shoot the teleport cord toward the rear of the aircraft down the aisle, where you'll also find another hotspot that puts you in a passenger window seat overlooking the rear of the wing. You can hand slide the window cover up or down and turn on/off the reading lights, as well as push the call button to call the stewardess. Very immersive and wonderful for replays as well.

What's new in V106 (for passenger version only right now):  All the known bugs or issues listed below should be fixed.  New VR walkaround feature...add or remove ALL items from within VR using hand controllers.

    Installation Instructions:

I recommend making a backup copy of your X-plane 11/Aircraft/X-Aviation/Saab 340a/*** Variant folders. Just rename them to something like ****** Variant Old, so you can easily just revert back if you need to.

Step 1. Unzip the file and you'll find 3 folders, one for each variant. Add the ***_vrconfig.txt file to your Aircraft's X-plane 11/Aircraft/X-Aviation/Saab 340a/*** Variant folder.
Step 2. Open the ***_Cockpit_obj.txt file in a text editor such as notepad, etc. Select All and copy everything.  Open your LES_Saab_340a_****_cockpit.obj OBJ file in a text editor and delete everything in it, and paste all your copied info into it. Save that file and you're good to go.

Known bugs or issues (fixed in v106, still present in v105):

    - Switches that should "snap" back to centre, such as starter switch, bleeds, trims, V/S wheel, etc...they do not snap back to centre using the VR controllers. I believe there is some custom "on mouse release" gizmo code going on there, and the VR controllers aren't seen by gizmo as a "mouse". Fortunately, the VR mouse works just fine, so I map the VR mouse to a button on my yoke and turn it on when I need to adjust trims. Everything else is still usable with the VR controllers. When you reset the bleeds it will stay in the reset position, but I've found that it's fine to leave it there. The same thing with the starter switch, it will just stay in the position of the engine you just started but doesn't make a difference. If you want to snap it back to centre, just use the VR mouse for now.
    - Some custom mouse wheel code in 2d gets broken while using the VR mod, so if you are going to fly her in 2d you may want to revert back to the old .obj files.
    - gust lock only works using VR mouse. Again, I believe it's dependent on some custom gizmo mouse code.

Disclaimer: This is not an officially supported LES update, so don't expect support from them on it. If you need help you can always ask me or just revert to your backed up folders. If you lose the old files and just want to reset everything just reinstall the aircraft.

  19. Out of the VR Lab: IXEG 737-300

Nearly everything that is movable in this aircraft has been customized and tuned with VR controllers in mind.  At last count, 189 manipulators have been VR upgraded or adjusted.

Highlights of things tweaked to work in VR are:

    -VR Yoke in realistic mode
-Throttle with detents you can feel at transition from flight idle
-Flaps with every detent added to haptic vibrational feedback
-Perfectly tuned IAS bugs around the airspeed indicator
    -All knobs tuned
-All switches tuned with respect to functionality, i.e. holding the switch down and on release, it springs back to centre.
    -Speed Brake with haptic detents
    -Reverse throttle perfectly tuned
-Center throttle manipulator added to control both throttles at once
-Elevator trim tuned for accurate speed
    -HDG dial
    -CRS dial
    -Altimeter baro pressure knobs
    -Altitude Selector knob
    -IAS knob
    -VR Yoke added and tuned
-Custom teleport hotspots, including one at the cabin door and in a wing window passenger seat.

Things that still don't work correctly:

*On the pilot side FMC, the top right line select button click-spot is a bit shifted to the right, but still functional.

*When you grab the reverse throttle to actuate it, you have to "click" it once before you can move it.  Not sure why.

*The yoke has some hydraulic speed limits coded into it.  It's not noticeable if you are flying her easy and correctly, but it can only be pitched and rolled so fast.  I don't think this is a bug, but it's a noticeable thing and is a bit different than the other SimVRlabs aircraft.  You definitely feel just a tad disconnected from fast and small corrections.

    Installation Instructions:

Please read the disclaimer at the bottom of the page.  This update in no way effects flight model or systems, only manipulator interaction with regards to VR, and some VR teleport hotspots added.

I recommend making a backup copy of your X-plane 11/Aircraft/IXEG 737 folder.  Just rename it to something like IXEG 737 Old, so you can easily just revert back if you need to.

Step 1. Unzip the file and you'll find 2 files.   Add both the B733_vrconfig.txt file and the B733_cockpit.obj to your Aircraft's root folder, overwrite.

    Step 2.  Enjoy!

Disclaimer: This is not an officially supported IXEG update, so don't expect support from them on it. If you need help you can always ask me through the support section of the website or just revert to your backed up folders. If you lose the old files and just want to reset everything just reinstall the aircraft.

  20. Out of the VR Lab: Carenado Cessna 210M Centurion II (with and without REP supported)

This update tweaked several things that were very frustrating in VR with the touch controllers.  The yoke has been dialled in for VR controllers and the knobs and other manipulators have been tuned for a much better experience overall.  Also fine tuned the teleport hotspots.

Manipulators that have been tweaked to work in VR are:

VR Yoke tweaked to work on "realistic yoke" setting

    Fuel Selector Switch slowed

Ignition Switch slowed (realistic mag checks without twitchy-ness)

Mixture axis tuned to follow your hand without acceleration

Throttle axis tuned to follow your hand without acceleration

Prop axis tuned to follow your hand without acceleration

    Trim Wheels have natural speed

Cowl Flap handle follows hand perfectly

Flap handle tuned and haptic detents added so you can feel marked degree positions

All knobs tuned for correct speed

Many other levers, knobs, and switches tuned

    Installation Instructions:

I recommend making a backup copy of your X-plane 11/Aircraft/C210M folder.  Just rename it to something like C210M Old, so you can easily just revert back if you need to.

Step 1. Unzip the file and you’ll find 2 files.   Add both the Car_Centurion_vrconfig.txt file and the Car_Centurion_cockpit.obj to your Aircraft’s root folder, overwrite.  Keep the zip file on your computer so you can re-apply the SimVRlabs mod after any updates that come your way.

    Step 2.  Enjoy!

Things to know:  These mods will work with or without REP, just download the correct zip file and you're on your way.

Disclaimer: This is not an officially supported Carenado update, so don't expect support from them on it. If you need help you can always ask me or just revert to your backed up vrconfig files.
