ToLiss A319 VR knob push/pull action enhancement possible?

Recommended Posts

Hi, ist it possible to enhance the behaviour of the HDG knob and the ALT knob of the A319's FCU? With VR controllers (i use Oculus touch) it is very difficult to determine if your next action will be a pull or a push - you have to "click" on a certain position but you get no visual feedback before you perform the action (in contrast to operating it with the mouse).

What I want to achieve is to be able to grab the button virtually and drag or push it, so with a movement on the z-axis.

I already tried to find out which objects to manipulate in the vrconfig file, but i'm not getting it. What i found in the knobs.obj file was this:

ANIM_begin
ANIM_trans -0.053300 0.384200 -4.416900 -0.053300 0.384200 -4.416900 0.000000 0.000000 none
ANIM_rotate 0.000000 -0.308989 -0.951066 0.000000 1.000000 0.000000 1.000000 ckpt/fcu/hading/anim
ANIM_trans 0.053300 -0.384200 4.416900 0.053300 -0.384200 4.416900 0.000000 0.000000 none
TRIS 322833 384
ANIM_begin
ANIM_trans 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 -0.001400 -0.004500 0.000000 1.000000 ckpt/fcu/headingPush/anim
TRIS 323217 1770
ANIM_end
ANIM_end

There is a similar section concerning altitude. I suspect that's where I need to start, but wouldn't know how to deal with ckpt/fcu/hading/anim and ckpt/fcu/headingPush/anim in the vrconfig file to achieve my goal. Can someone help me?

Hi,

Unfortunately there is nothing that we can do about this. ToLiss would also be unlikely to give us permission to modify their VR support as they already have great work.

There also is nothing that ToLiss can do about those knobs because of XPlane limitations. They have made it as good as possible.

Cheers,

Matheson
