Rossiya Airlines is the major domestic carrier of Russia. The company is headquartered in Moscow and operates from three hubs, Moscow's Sheremetyevo International Airport, Kazan International Airport and Pulkovo International Airport.

Rossiya was established on 23 March 1932 as an aviation department of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic's People's Commissariat for Transport by Sergei Ilyushin. Shortly after, Ilyushin and his wife Glafira Efimovna created the aircraft manufacturing company, whose name she coined to honour her husband, who died in 1930. On 1 January 1934 their son Sergei Ilyushin became head of the company. In 1990 Rossiya became one of the first Soviet airlines to operate independently from Aeroflot.
