  1. Accumulated Snow

    * My daughter asked to add this:
Enjoy the snow presented by Queen Elsa of Arendelle
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We had a big snow storm couple of days ago, and when I loaded my xplane, there is no snow! It turns out xplane will only show you snow if it is currently snowing... here we are
A big thanks to @pbuckner @Antonio Golfari who helped me to understand how NOAA grib works ... if you want a system that replaces xplane weather and use real time NOAA data. https://github.com/biuti/XplaneNoaaWeather by @Antonio Golfari
    ***Works on X-Plane 12 only***
Win/Lin/Mac(universal build for both Intel and Arm)
    How to install:
    1. Unzip the file and put it under your Resources/plugins
    2. **MAC USER ONLY**: remove the quarantine flags of mac.xpl. Use "finder" to go to bin folder, right click on the OSX11wgrib2, then click open. It will ask for permissions and a terminal window will popup. This is to let Mac know you are ok to run this binary. Then you are good to go.

    How it works:
It reads NOAA 4hr GFS model prediction from 4hrs ago and assumes that's what is now. Then it put snow based on NOAA data in your current location. HOWEVER, the noaa data doesn't cover the entire earth especially along shore lines. That means you will see "bugs" like following:

    Known Issues:
    1. no snow at all, example, entire Norway shoreline is not covered. NOAA data covers until 200-300km away from the shore. I have tried to extend snow to shorelines but there are still cases NOAA report is too far away from shore that i can't do much
    2. I have snow but it's all gone after passing a point, or vice verse. This is because NOAA data is reported on a 0.25degree to 0.25degree resolution so when you fly into another "box", the data i have would be zero. I have tried to smooth it out but it is not perfect in some places, similar to #1
    3. Puddle/ice are not handled (planned: next minor release)
    4. When you select manual weather, set time to summer, the plugin still reads current NOAA and puts snow. I will see if i can just introduce historical feature and disable this plugin entirely when you select manual weather instead of live. (planned: next minor release)

    Rumours on the street:
An XPlane developer said they are working on snow feature. It will make snow regional instead of a global "accumulated snow amount". While I am going to fix bugs and improve small things. I think we might soon see native accumulated snow.

    What's New in Version 1.1.0
    Released Yesterday at 08:28 AM
    1. Add smooth snow depth transition
It was a step transition, on a 1 degree box, so you were seeing big flip. It is now using a better continuously equation to slowly transition out, 0.1 by 0.1 degree
    2. Use highest resolution data
Using 0.25 degree NOAA data instead of 1 degree
    3. Better costal coverage
This is a best effort fix to address missing snow coverage near shore lines. Say NOAA reports 20cm of snow 50KM from shore, if you were flying 55KM from shore, it would show no snow. When you fly closer, suddenly 20cm of snow is on the ground. Right now, when i will extend snow cover from 20CM, 50KM away to something like 15CM, 40KM away, ... 2CM, -10KM.
What the heck is -10km? Because we only have a global snow control, If i scale it to 0 at 0km, you will still have the same problem flying 0.00001 meter away from the shore. but if i extend it further, you are less likely to see snow gone. However, this is also depends on how much snow NOAA reported where. If its last point says 100CM, 200KM, I won't expand that far cause that will just make snow everywhere. The expand is going east/west only and I simply assume that is the most logical way to cover coastal area for now. The max extend distance is 20 boxes (0.1 degree per box).
Please report your experience, especially for #3, so in the next release, I can adjust that or even let you configure it based on how much love NOAA gives to your location.
    4. Hide wgrib2 prompt window on Windows
    5. Fix: flat earth issue when you passing 360 degree.
The plugin won't think you fell off the edge of earth any more.

  3. Raytracing in X-Plane-X-Tracing | Ultimate Lighting Improvement Mod With Rays, Refractions, Reflections, Colors and MORE!

    What does it Do?
If your like me then you are tried of X-Planes washed out look and feel. Tired of flat boring cockpits that don't respond to their environment or dull colors. This mod is here to change that. Using Reshade and a path tracing shader you are able to completely change X-Planes look. Follow along with this tutorial and apply the presets and your sim will be breath taking.
Try the interactive demo to see the difference.
Or watch a video to see it in action

    Install (VERY VERY IMPORTANT)
To start make sure you are running X-Plane 11.50. It may work on older versions but 11.50 is the best. Not tested on MAC or LINUX. IF you want to test try and install reshade first.
1: Download this file and run the reshade installer. Then select X-planes exe file from the list. . Then select your rendering API that you use in xplane (opengl or vulkan). Make sure that the first 3 effect packages are selected (Standard effects, Sweet fx and qUINT) and select ok. <- The previous step is VERY important. Do not skip. Finish the install process.
2: Download and install the required textures and shaders for MartyMc flys RTGI Shader into your reshade-shaders folder located in your X-plane root folder.
3: Now place the reshade-shaders folder in your root X-plane directory. This will install the bloom shader and presets.
4: Find your main X-plane exe file and create a shortcut. Right click that shortcut and select properties. Change the target from "D:\X-Plane 11\X-Plane.exe" to "D:\X-Plane 11\X-Plane.exe" --allow_reshade. (THERE IS A  SPACE BETWEEN THE END QUOTE AND DASH)
5: Now run X-plane and begin by setting a reshade menu toggle button in the setting tab and a effect toggle button as well. Go into X-planes settings and turn the anti aliasing off. (we are using reshades anti a). Finally go to the rendering API tab on reshade (Vulkan/Opengl) and select the box with the highest number of vertices.
6: Now all you need to do is load the preset intro reshade and your good to go.  At the very top of the reshade menu under the home tab there will be a preset selector. You can navigate to your preset folder in the reshade-shaders folder. (We put this folder there on step 3)

    High Quality Shadows (optional)
My shadow resolution is 16k in ASHA
    https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/64093-asha-advanced-shadows-and-appearance/

    Performance
With the current settings i noticed a -2 fps hit when toggling the shader. I am running a 2070 super. If you are noticing large fps hits consider turning off SSR or messing with rtgi.fx. On a lower end card. 1060 and below expect 5-10 fps hit.
    Resources
If you need help installing reshade watch this. Use the included reshade installer in the file or else you will have issues with the depth buffer disabling.
If RTGI will not work your input  is either reversed, you don't have depth access set up or xplanes native anti aliasing is on witch interferes with the depth buffer. Watch this for more insight.

    News
If this becomes a popular solution to X-planes lighting the dev of RTGI MartyMc Fly is considering a custom RTGI shader for X-plane that would be integrated without reshade.

If you are having issues make sure your depth access is set up properly in reshade and anti aliasing is turned off in xplane.

  4. SkypaintXP For X-Plane 11.51+ V.

This is a stand-alone xVision 2.0 solution that is compatible with X-Plane 11.51 R1 or higher.
NOTE 1: As you can see in the comments section, there have been folks who reported that their sim got too dark. This is is an issue with running this preset in Open GL. At this point, I will point out that THIS PRESET IS ONLY FOR X-PLANE 11 VULKAN. Please, do not contact me for Open GL issues.
NOTE 2: There are now 2 versions available for download: Skypaint_XP_v_404.xvs which is a stand-alone version as all the previous ones and Skypaint_XP_v_404_ReShade.xvs which is the version to be used for those who also want to use ReShade. I have also made version 4.0.3 still available for those who were happy with it and wanted to retain it.
NOTE 3: I am currently working on my own ReShade preset to go along with my solution. Until it is ready and available i recomend Xephyr's great ReShade preset available here
    INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
NOTE: A visual installation zip file is included separately in the download section
Save the .xvs file from the downloaded zip file to your xVision 2.0 folder Open your xVision Run the "Restore from Backup" function from the side menu In the pop up window, make sure options "Restore initial Lua scripts to FlyWithLua Plugin" and "Restore initial graphic resources" are checked off Wait for the "Sim shaders cache cleared" and "Resources restored successfully" messages in the Program Log (bottom of page) Click on the Open solution button on the side menu and chose Skypaint_XP_vX.X.xvs (which you saved in 1) Click on the "Apply adjustment and install resources" icon on the side menu Wait until xVision gives you the "Solution processed successfully. Restart X-Plane for the applied changes to take effect." message in the Program Log (bottom of page) AFTER INSTALLATION:
This solution installs its resources and scripts in exclusive mode. This means that any lua scripts in your X-Plane 11/resources/plugins/FlyWithLua/scripts folder will be disabled. Before enabling any scripts, please make sure they don't conflict with the lua scripts this solution uses. That is, keep any cloud, sky, lights and water lua scripts disabled or delete them altogether.
    INCOMPATIBILITIES - KNOWN ISSUES
Although the solution has been tested extensively, it is impossible to be aware of all incompatibilities with other addons for the simple reason that I may not own some of them. Under this heading, I will list all incompatibilities and issues as they come to my attention by users or as I discover them in my own sim:
Users of 3jFPS-Wizzard: Skypaint_Tweaks.lua contains dataref "sim/private/controls/clouds/overdraw_control". The same dataref is also used in 3jFPS-Wizard's lua. Please, delete this dataref from SkypaintXP_Tweaks lua. Users of the ASHA script: This solution manipulates shadows (cloud as well as general sim shadows). If you are using the ASHA lua script, you either delete it or delete the shadow dataref sections of this solution's Skypaint_Tweaks.lua SUPPORT:
I will stand behind this solution and offer help and support for any issues related to bad or subpar functionality (faulty lua scripts, errors etc.). Please, DO NOT message me or comment on requests to change visuals in this solution. I went to great lengths to ensure that the solution will provide reasonable results for a wide range of systems and situations. As it is always the case with visual enhancements, one person's trash is another person's treasure. Please accept this solution as is and, if it does not meet your preferences, use it as a basis and do your own tweaks as you see fit. I will not respond to any requests for changes regarding the way things look in the sim.
    USAGE:
How you use this solution and who you chose to share it with is not my business to say. Feel free to alter, re-use and tweak it to your discretion and liking.
    CREDITS:
The solution utilizes the following 3-party resources:
The amazing Eddie Sky Pack skycolor textures: https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/37325-eddieskypack-for-xp11-esp-xp11-b085/ Alan Revier's great water lua script: https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/51899-lua-script-for-water-enhancement/ Airfighter's super-handy lights script: https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/65793-itx-d-lights-controls/ ChinNoobonic's outstanding xVisibility lua script: https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/46845-x-visibility-dynamic-haze-control/ Credit is also due to Ves and his legendary solution for supplying the basis for the tweaks in SkypaintXP's shaders My goal is to make this solution work for everyone, so any reviews and/or feedback comments are always welcomed and appreciated.
    Happy flying!

  5. Realistic new water textures for X-Plane 11

This is a more realistic and bluish water texture mod for X-Plane 11.
It should work with Vulcan, but i'm just playing in OpenGL, so I can't guarantee it.

Installation is very easy: Just put the "any" file into "X-Plane 11/Resources/bitmaps/world/water"

  6. Blu Preset

The Blu Preset for X-Plane 11, threshold edition!

Hello everyone! I bring you all reshade preset which I named the 'Blu Preset', I tried not to go too crazy with the effects so it should NOT have any impact on any FPS at all!  I've worked for a while adjusting, removing effects, etc etc on this preset and here's the final product of it. I tried to aim for something realistic and colorful that doesn't burn your eyes! I also made sure to make it easy for you all to install, so for people who've never used reshade before, here's some instructions!

INSTALLATION: put the ini file into a safe place and then open x plane, press the home button (or any key youve binded to the reshade menu), click HOME at the top, then click on the bar with the + next to it (should be on the top by where you clicked home), and navigate to where the preset is located and wabam! You're done

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to put them in the comments or shoot me a DM if thats possible, will always respond quick!

(Btw I've never uploaded a file on threshold before so please let me know if I did something wrong)

    Have fun!!

  7. xVision 2.0 Solution Companion For Ultra Weather XP

    Hello fellow simmers,
This is just a small xVision 2.0 solution that enhances certain visual aspects of X Plane where Ultra Weather XP v 2.6.2.4 does not provide any processing . It is intended to be used only with UWXP. No other pluggins where tested (Skymaxx Pro, xEnviro etc) so I can't guarantee compatibility.
I have also included my Ultra Weather XP settings that work best for my sim and system. Your mileage may vary.
The shaders were chosen so that they don't conflict with UWXP's rendering/post-processing. However, use of this solution  is done at your own risk. Please, keep in mind that usage of this solution in conjunction with UWXP voids support for  UWXP as clearly stated in the developer's  user's manual.
Having said the above this solution was tested extensively on X Plane 11.51 r1 Vulkan with no adverse effects or incompatibility issues with UWXP. I am not sure if it also works in Open GL mode of 11.51 r1 as I am only using the Vulkan mode for wich UWXP v 2.6.2.4 was developed and optimized.
What does this solution offer is:
Vegetation shade enhancements Slightly increased PBR effect Wider and brighter sun water reflections Day/Night raindrop brightness and rendering adjustments Post processing tweaks regarding slightly increased contrast, based on luma exponential curves Brighter and less opaque jet contrails Installation Instructions:
Follow the standard xVision solution installation procedure:
Save the .xvs file from this download to your xVision 2.0 folder Open your xVision Run the Restore from Backup function from the side menu Click on the Open solution button on the side menu and chose XV_UWXP_Companion.xvs (which you saved in 1)  Click on the "Apply adjustment and install resources" icon on the side menu Wait untl xVision gives you the message that the solution has been installed (bottom of the xVision window in the Program Log tab) Happy flying!

  8. Enhanced Cloudscapes

    Hello,
I have been working on a volumetric cloud replacement for X-Plane 11 since last two-three months, and finally managed to get visually appealing results. The plugin is not a weather engine, and it only replaces default X-Plane 11 clouds with volumetric ones, therefore it should be compatible with weather injection plugins like Active Sky XP. Currently it supports X-Plane 11.50+ and 2 major operating systems - Windows and Linux. It is an open source freeware, and finally in beta phase!
The package includes both Enhanced Cloudscapes Controller and FSEnhancer's sky colors. I'm really thankful to enricodelbono for allowing FSEnhancer's art assets and RandomUser for Enhanced Cloudscapes Controller to be included with the release package.
You can check out the club page for feedback and support:

  9. 11.50 Vulkan ves tweaked preset - no xvision required

    Hello 🙂
with permission from Ves the creator of the xvision preset . I have modified the assets to be used without xvision and are fully compatible with 11.50 vulkan.

    Installation:
Copy the resource folder into your x-plane folder, click yes to overwrite. Maybe make a backup first of your cloud and skycolor folder if you want to revert.

I can also recommend to use this in combination with the x-visibility script. Which also seems to work fine in 11.50 vulkan.

I hope you enjoy it 🙂

  11. X-Visibility - Dynamic Haze Control

    Donation:
If you would like to support me, you can always get me a coffee.
    https://www.paypal.me/JordanAChin

    For XP 11.25+

This script provides dynamic haze/fog control based on reported visibility, providing smooth visibility transitions throughout all phases of flight. This means no "infinite" visibility the higher you get, no abrupt visibility changes and a realistic looking atmosphere based on reported visibility for the area.

    Features:

    * Smooth visibility transitions during all phases of flight
    * No white out/grey out/blue out when passing through clouds or at night (My older "No White Out In Clouds" script is no longer needed)
    * No more infinite visibility
    * More challenge in IMC conditions
    * Works with default weather (manual and real weather)

    Compatibility:
    * Not compatible with X-Enviro
    * Not tested with Ultra weather, disabling the haze options in that plugin should get it working with X-Visibilty theoretically
    * FSE v0.5 uses the older gradual visibility script in the TrueHaze.lua file. Remove all text below (or remove lines 122-288) --TRUEHAZE INTERNAL PARAMETERS and this script should work fine with FSE
    * If you are using the "No White Out In Clouds" script, please remove it as it is no longer needed
    Installation:
This script was tested on X-Plane 11.25, and it requires the flyWithLua NG plugin available at:
    https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/38445-flywithlua-ng-next-generation-edition-for-x-plane-11-win-lin-mac/
To install, place X-Visibility.lua in the following folder:
    <X-Plane installation path>\Resources\plugins\FlyWithLua\Scripts\

    Usage:
There is no interface but it is possible to change some parameters of this script with the following lines:

local plugin_on = true --enable plugin
local debug_info = false --show debug info
local atmoTop_visibility = 30480 --elevation to apply the max visibility, default is 30480 m
    local minFog_value = 0.6 --minimum fog value between 0.0-1.0, default is 0.6
    local atmoTop_Fog = 1.5 --fog value after passing atmoTop_visibility
local highAltFogMult = 1 --reduce to 0.5 or 0.25 if you feel the haze at higher altitudes is too strong, default is 1
    Acknowledgements:
Thanks to @SNowblind7 for his help testing this script and for his initial work in the gradualVisibility script from which this is built upon.
