" only once the arrival of MSFS was imminent, Vulkan was implemented by force due to urgency of the actual situation"

Not true, Vulkan/Metal was part of the original X-Plane11 roadmap, it has been a three year project by Laminar and a core system required switch, and was started well, well before any MSFS announcement, in fact it is four months overdue in development.

What is not true? Yes, it was on the roadmap, it has been a three year project etc. and overdue...I am pretty much sure that the arrival of MSFS certainly triggered an additional urgency to get over with it and get it released...however I do not want to get into speculations. I am happy that there is now real competition out there; I will certainly not fool myself with self imposed propaganda due to the fact that I have a lot of add on for XP11, which is for ME today quite outdated. My main problem is the unacceptable weather, the environment - no not only the looks - and therefore I am certainly hoping for xEnviro...

At least you are transparant and consistent too....You came for the looks and now left XP11 for the looks. I came for the flight dynamics and systemsm, tried MSFS2020, and I'm back for the flight dynamics again. Uninstalled msfs2020, not worth allocating any diskspace.

First of all thank you for your feedback. Yes indeed, I need the graphics - most of us need it - but I also need the proper flight model and systems, the proper environment and weather and the proper interaction between all those etc. etc. leading to an immersive experience, which I do not get in XP11 anymore, thus hoping for xE to fill at least part of that shortcoming. I understand you, having maybe a lot of add on, making your XP11 according to your need/preference, thus you like to use it as your prime sim, on the other side experts are praising MSFS, which you have mentioned,  for the "impossible detail of its 1:1 world map" and that the "simulation model is more detailed than it's ever been".  However the discussion about the so called "flight dynamics" is a subjective one and proper scientific comparison missing so far. Also with the arrival of 3rd party products in MSFS the system depth will be automatically implemented. Having said that, I do hope, respectively I am sure that XP11 will be further developed; meanwhile I am certainly looking forward to "fly" again in it's xEnviro environment in the near future. BTW I have installed 4 flight simulator games. Cheers

@Tavakoli Laminar has always gone through things at their own pace regardless of what microsoft does. Xp was born out of the disappointment of microsoft's sim and has done its own thing since, each having their own priorities and approaches to things.  the fact that even though microsoft has a the majority of the sim community, xp still has a large following even after all the different sims over the years and update means that xp has things that people still want.

@ysfsim I absolutely agree with you! Regardless to my actual preferences, I myself am "following" XP11!

a very interesting insight, despite we have heard that msfs2020 had a new physics non-flying-block dynamics.

based on on your personal encounter - can you xplane (explain) how short was msfs2020 from x-plane with regards to flight dynamics... am eager to that (although not subject of this thread.)..

XPlane aircraft seem to fly more streamlined and maybe "on rails", the wind seems to have more grip on the fuselage, wereas the msfs2020 planes float more, less acurate and the ever present turbulance gets annoying after time. The planes all feel exactly the same, big or small. I read on some forum, the airplane code is axactly the same as fsx airplanes for mobile devices. But I hope serious modules from 3th parties will arive. Over all it feels more like an x box game then a sim. It has been hyped like the ultimate perfect sim with 100% authentic scenery, but it is far from that.........xp11 + SFD global + ORBX + reshade etc. 🙂  does a better job in realism.

I never used xenviro anymore since Enhanced Cloudscapes(+ reshade with RayTracing Gi from Pascal GLitcher) is doing the job reasonably well.  The lighting with Xenviro is unmatched still. Any Xenviro update I see as a gift from now on. I enjoyed Xenviro a lot and it is time to move on.

Hello,  This is probably not the proper place for making suggestions but I thought I'd give it a try.  There are times when I to into xEnviro settings to confirm what I have set.  I have some aircraft that use the Librain plugin for rain and others where I use the xEnviro setting.  It would be nice if there were a "Cancel" button when bringing up the xEnviro settings.  That way I could check on things without hitting "Done" and wiping out the weather and having to let xEnviro generate it again.  Thanks.

So weve reached 1.14b24

We have gone through and ironed out a bunch of bugs and issues. Closing item after item day by day. How many more versions we burn through before we're ready to hit the public, we're not entirely sure. Beta team has worked well and we work with a lighter mood

I did the first stream today and will probably do a couple more in the time to come. Not sure if I'm going to announce the streams here and make them as public as I did before the 1.13 launch, but we'll see.
We're getting there 😃
Here are some screenshots from todays stream626362753_2020-10-0721_38_03-X-System.jpg.f67c9bb1621b6723ebac10fc11ef5459.jpg1359111560_2020-10-0721_06_43-X-System.jpg.7f5fefd8150174524846ffad55ecab7b.jpg315930532_2020-10-0721_02_21-X-System.jpg.6fb986c2ce2b177ed363a97dbb1cad76.jpg69249938_2020-10-0720_53_24-X-System.jpg.96ac34b339f077fbf52204658cca60b0.jpg723408473_2020-10-0720_52_06-X-System.jpg.86f168e8a5753b19ef397bb6df0ad9b2.jpg236239426_2020-10-0719_43_34-X-System.jpg.ccf922e7c75874ba049bc97450a3217a.jpg1513171824_2020-10-0718_42_00-X-System.jpg.21b370f760905e535e284e0effbfe003.jpg2037963864_2020-10-0718_29_19-X-System.jpg.1dff48a6da014215985720a3bdb6cab7.jpg89660390_2020-10-0718_25_51-X-System.jpg.f572401ff9e67f382f58e8a1c4d3722f.jpg1980612929_2020-10-0718_14_21-X-System.jpg.ed61b7a7719abb7440f5840f75465ade.jpg1795021002_2020-10-0718_13_25-X-System.jpg.f3a086179fefc3fc06b898351cf378db.jpg92577941_2020-10-0718_12_40-X-System.jpg.143ea13f61b580a7b68c6a1bc9b6d353.jpg1542393289_2020-10-0718_08_58-X-System.jpg.6518ba1817ddc28f2d8b4f425048c579.jpg1986779929_2020-10-0718_01_42-X-System.jpg.47d5954c051a6f6eb875360cd391a23c.jpg1874408236_2020-10-0717_58_02-X-System.jpg.63d47bd544b38bd02e5c41a1156968e9.jpg871477641_2020-10-0717_41_06-X-System.jpg.ae502042fa933c920863d1fd6bce7f28.jpg595791425_2020-10-0717_20_58-X-System.jpg.6b50db16b375692a10a7b05dfb1ed693.jpg

Lets talk performance

What performance gain can you expect from 1.14 (OpenGL)?
Well, that depends on your system. The lower specs your computer has, the more of a benefit you'll likely have. 4k users will see a good boost as well. Mentioning numbers is not really beneficial since it is very individual and I want to avoid giving too high expectations. But one new feature we introduce to 1.14 are performance sliders.
This comes with a huge warning! Ultra is NOT playable at any setting for 99% of users. Ultra is only available because we want to give you the option.

Use these settings with care and don't use the below image as a guide 😉
Adjust these settings to your quality / performance likings.

438861988_2020-10-0721_45_45-X-System.jpg.41334e20ea9cd249bc2e9dac290272f1.jpg

  • Clouds static quality
    • This slider increases the cloud detail
  • Clouds dynamic quality
    • This slider decreases ghosting effect of clouds during movement.
  • Clouds detail range
    • Sets static quality of clouds at desired distance

What performance gain can you expect from 1.15 (Vulkan)?

None. Vulkan is a performance gain primarily for CPU loads. So since xE is GPU dependent you will most likely not see any gain. You might, but it's not a given. Few people will understand this concept and we do expect comments like: "I get 90fps vanilla and 15fps in xE! That's a 75fps drop!!1!" Well, yes nothing chaged with GPU dependency and on Ultra settings you will be choking your GPU to a point that you should be brought to court for abuse.

As a last comment - we're still in beta:

NO, there is no release date
NO, beta is not public
YES you can apply in a thread in threshold forum club but
NO it's NOT a given that you will be taken on board when you apply

I have a twitch channel where I will stream the beta now and then. Search for my name on Twitch - I'm not going to link to it.

(Latest Images are close to how it will look at release - we're not done with the visuals after 1.14 this is a constant development where we do what's possible with the headroom we got --> performance / visuals)949816852_2020-10-0219_54_56-X-System.jpg.d56698238353c7736429e373471bc7b3.jpg1282335679_2020-10-0219_51_31-X-System.jpg.12ec6c363060fa0d967520337f26fd5e.jpg

How did I forget to post this here?

The announcement one week ago... If you haven't read this, please read it all:
We are in the final stages of beta but life has caught up with some of the team members and development has halted completely for the time being. My own situation is with illness and severe pain - but I'm getting better and am recovering. But this is not what is stopping the progress.

I didn't want to go public with the current circumstances since we got a backlash last time, when Andrey was directly affected by the cinema fires in Moscow right before the release of 1.10. Imagine even getting a backlash from people for something like that; not developing because of recent trauma..

But I'll enlighten you on the current situation since I realize that those of you who have a common sense, the majority none the less, deserve a progress update and a reason for the low activity: The loss of a very close family member recently and circumstances surrounding this makes development impossible for at least two weeks.

With respect to the mourning team member I am not going in to further detail on this.

As I said, this is a week ago. Things aren't really back to normal yet but I'll keep you all in the loop as we know more. Beta is in its last stages so once we're back to normal we should be seeing good progress towards RC1.

I just installed the 1.13 version.  I went from 40fps to 8 (on XP11.5 beta , beta 3 I think).  Set the XE to simple and unchecked full cloud cover and selected real wx.  I'm running three monitors off 1050i card.  The weather reported scattered and broken layers and I got none of that.  The #1 monitor showed a pretty good haze but the #2 and #3 monitor showed CAVUOK.  Not using vulcan, will be after I upgrade to 2070i card.
